Fair Play Maritime

A Legacy of Trust and Performance

In June 2024, Fair Play Maritime marked 25 years of continuous service to the global maritime industry — a milestone that reflects our enduring commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation. Since our founding in 1999, we have built a reputation as a trusted crewing partner, known for our ability to deliver qualified, reliable personnel across all sectors of the marine industry.

Today, we continue to evolve, embracing new technologies and adapting to the dynamic needs of shipowners and seafarers alike. Our legacy is defined not only by longevity, but by the strong relationships, high retention rates, and consistent quality that have shaped our journey.

Our Values: Built on Trust, Quality, and Commitment

At Fair Play Maritime, our work is guided by a set of core values that define every interaction and decision. We believe in integrity, transparency, and respect — both towards our clients and the seafarers we represent. Our commitment to quality and continuous improvement ensures that we remain a reliable partner in a dynamic maritime industry.

Our Mission: Aligning Expectations

We aim to bridge the gap between shipowners and seafarers by delivering tailored crewing solutions that prioritize quality, reliability, and long-term collaboration. Our mission is to anticipate operational needs and provide fit, qualified, and compliant personnel who contribute to safe and efficient vessel operations, while ensuring appropriate employment conditions to our seafarers.

Our Journey Since 1999

Fair Play Maritime was founded in Constanța in 1999 by Mr. Daniel Petre. Later that same year, he was joined by Mr. Ion Popescu — both experienced officers sharing a clear vision: to provide professional crewing services that meet the highest international standards. Over the years, we have grown into one of Romania’s leading manning agencies, serving a wide range of vessel types and building long-standing partnerships with global shipping companies.

To this day, our activity has seen both downturns and upturns, endings and new beginnings. Mrs. Nicoleta Camelia Petre joined Fair Play Maritime at the end of 2009, following the sudden and unfortunate passing of Mr. Daniel Petre. Our team successfully ensured business continuity during that period.

Among our valued partnerships, we proudly mention our former client, Messrs Oskar Wehr KG of Hamburg, with whom we shared 22 years of cooperation. The collaboration ended after the company chose to transfer its in-house crew management to third parties. We mention Oskar Wehr for two reasons: first, because throughout those years of service, hundreds of officers, engineers, and ratings developed a strong sense of belonging — a true extended family within this community. Second, because of the invaluable experience gained over the years, where seafaring knowledge was passed from the old to the young. As they beautifully used to say: “Experience is like a good ship — it brings people and goods safely to port.”

From our early days to our 25th anniversary in 2024, our evolution has been driven by dedication, adaptability, and a deep understanding of maritime industry manpower requirements — providing an appropriate response to demanding clients worldwide, as well as proper support to our seafarers.
